MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai today paid his condolences to the Dhungwa family following the death of a veteran MDC cadre, Freggy Dhungwa, popularly known as "Mudhara Mutambu", yesterday in Harare.
He was 82.
Speaking to mourners, Tsvangirai appreciated the efforts of the veteran politician whom he described as fearless, inspired and strong in the face of great opposition.
"This old man was inspired. One would question where he got his inspiration and energy from. In terms of forming the party, Mr Mutambu is one of the founding fathers. This man was a shareholder," said Tsvangirai.
He said the MDC was celebrating the life of one of the greatest founding members of the MDC. Tsvangirai added that the hope for a New Zimbabwe in which Mudhara Mutambu died fighting for, will not be forfeited in spite of the challenges presented.
"We shall cry the tears of joy. We have been in the opposition for long, but we have been in the Inclusive Government and we improved the lives of the people of Zimbabwe," he said.
Sadly the country's economy has been on a downward trend with life becoming worse for the general public and Zanu PF being clueless on how to restore sanity and confidence in the economy.
Freggy Dhungwa was born in Chihota, Nenguwo village on 12 August 1931. He is survived by his wife, Constance Mupfuka Dhungwa and eight children. He will be buried tomorrow at the Warren Hills Cemetery at 1100hrs.
