MDC Zimbabwe calls for urgent SADC intervention in Lesotho

The Movement for Democratic Change Mdc in Zimbabwe is calling upon the Southern African Development Community SADC to  swiftly attend to the military take over of civilian institutions in Lesotho.
 
The MDC unreservedly condemns the military take over of  civilian duties by the Armed Forces in Lesotho.
 
  Military commanders in Lesotho should respect the constitutionally  elected government of Prime Minister Thomas Thabane and learn to use peaceful means in future disputes instead of resorting to violent means.
 
The harassment and intimidation of civilians and the sitting Prime Minister of Lesotho is of major concern to Sadc  and social  democrats in Africa and the world over.
 
In the interest of peace and stability the commander of the Lesotho Defence forces should command the troops back to military barracks to avoid  violent clashes with civilians.
 
The MDC is urging partners in the Lesotho government to explore amicable ways of addressing their differences for the good of their own country.
 
 SADC chairperson President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe should call for an emergency regional meeting to tackle the Lesotho political crisis which is likely to cause regional instability if not urgently attended to by the regional block
 
 MDC Zimbabwe is commanding President Mugabe to move at supersonic speed in resolving the Lesotho crisis before the situation explodes.
 
The violent take over of political power in Lesotho is likely to  trigger civil unrests and bloodshed if not immediately addressed.
 
Mdc Zimbabwe applaudes the role that has been played by President Jacob Zuma towards the stabilization of the political situation in Lesotho.
 
The Lesotho crisis is an African problem  that requires the intervention of both sadc and the African Union.
