Mugabe celebrates killing whites

President Robert Mugabe says there was nothing wrong with blacks killing whites during the "Godly liberation war against colonialists".

Speaking at the official launch of the Non Aligned Movement Workshop on Minerals in Harare last week, Mugabe told delegates, who included school children, that: "Uprooting settlers demanded more than just sitting and crying, so we opted for the brutal way. Bullet for bullet."

Mugabe described the killings as a Godly way of dealing with the colonialists since they (freedom fighters) did not go for the white men's school children. The veteran leader said passive resistance by black Zimbabweans against the British settlers had only resulted in one-sided bloodshed, hence the adoption of the armed struggle.

Mugabe said his whole life had been focused on politics and fighting colonialism. He bemoaned the fall of Yugoslavia, which he said gave space to the United States and Europe to "rampage the world without restraint".

He said Africa's rich mineral deposits had brought about both sorrow and joy, as they had contributed to the exploitation and colonisation of Africans.

"No, no, no to exploitation of raw materials. We do not want to be exploited again," vowed Mugabe, hopeful that the Non Aligned Science and Technology Centre would improve people's lives through enabling mineral sells after value addition.

Zimbabwe is working on logistics that would lead to cutting and polishing diamonds locally. He invited the NAM to make Zimbabwe the home of its Centre for Science and Technology for mineral value addition.

Olivia Muchena, the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Science and Technology Development, awarded Mugabe the Scientist of the Year Award for "his vision for a vibrant Small to Medium Enterprise national project."

Muchena claimed that Mugabe went to India before Zimbabwe attained independence from its former colonial masters and copied the Indians' SMEs schemes.

Speaking at the same occasion, Arun Kulshreshtha, executive head Centre for Science and Technology of Non-Aligned and other Developing Countries bemoaned the reluctance by Zimbabwe scientists to take up fellowships offered by the institution.

"To date we have not received a single application from a Zimbabwean scientist for fellowships offered by the centre on minerals processing and beneficiation among others," he said.
