Mugabe not a priest
08 Oct 2014 at 23:55hrs | Views
Gukurahundi Genocide Survivors for Justice has been following with keen interest the events unfolding in Zimbabwe especially the the first lady's new found interest in active politics. However we find it apalling that she equates her husband Robert Mugabe to a priest. This is an insult to priests and all such servants of God.
Priests are God sent. They serve their communities as per the teachings of Jesus Christ and as such for someone to equate a dictator to a priest beats all logic. Grace of all people, being a member of the Roman Catholic womens legion would know better not to drape her husband in the same cloth as the priests. Whereas the priests robes are white and pure, not the same can be said of Robert Mugabe whose robes are dripping with blood and would continue to do so for eternity. Again, being a catholic woman she knows that the line her husband tows heads in the direct opposite to that of the priests.
It's an open secret that Robert Mugabe was the mastermind behind Gukurahundi, an atrocity which saw tens of thousands of innocent civilians from Matebeleland and the Midlands massacred, an atrocity that never should have happened. Robert Mugabe called it a moment of madness. Yes it was a moment of madness because only a mad man can attack and murder an innocent defenceless person. We wonder if we are going to witness another moment of madness. Surely calling a murderer a priest is utter madness.
If Robert Mugabe was sent by God as his wife alludes then he should do the right thing as God wills
- He should stop stifling voices of dissent on Gukurahundi
- He should pave way for a Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Gukurahundi
- He must let us bury our dearly departed (Gukurahundi victims) in dignity with no harassment from his police
- He should allow open dialogue on Gukurahundi
- He should restore peace and economic stability in Zimbabwe
Gukurahundi Genocide Survivors for Justice is not against Grace singing her husband praise but. We just don't want her to paint the good men of the cloth with the same evil brush that her husband is painted with.
