13:23, 9 Oct - +263 7* *** ****: THE GOVERNMENT MUST MOVE IN SWIFTLY IN SATELITE SCHOOLS
A lot of people are complaining about the the so called satelite schools especially in aereas sorrounding Harare.
"I don't know maybe its now business to run a government school," Said Mr Mwale, a parent with a grade 3 daughter at Southlea Park Primary School.
He is very bitter about what the authorities at the school are shortchanging them time and again. The parents are being asked to pay a once off payement building fund of $100 to construct a new school but the main problem is they are paying levies and school fees but the money is being channeled elsewhere and not going anywhere apart from their pockets.Another parent who is a Zesa employee had no kind words for the school leadership. He said,
"I started staying here in 2010 and my son is now in grade seven but I don't know where they are putting our money. Imagine we are paying $40 for school fees and $5 for levy for them to build beautiful houses. Thats nonsense! This school is not even registered and for me to pay that $100 building fund I cant because it might be their private school. I have never seen a community school being built in Harare nowadays."
Speculation is rife that the new school under construction gobled something around $7000 for roofing timber only and the school development committe secretary who went to purchase it in Mutare came back claiming $100 for his accomodation for one night. In Harare most single rooms for bed and break fast are going for between 60 and $70. The head of the satelite school refused to comment saying the ministry of education does not allow her to do so.
Below is what the school development wrote to parents today the 3rd of October 2014. Intrestingly there is no date or contact numbers, not to mention the school letterhead or adress.

1.Introduction
I greet you all parents and guardians of Southlea Park Primary School. May I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering, all weather support of your children in terms of ensuring they are well provided for to be ready to come to school as well as ensuring the school fees/levies are paid so that the learning environment at school remains as conducive as it can be. This is all in the background of a very un enabling economy wherein jobs are being lost and salaries and wages are not being paid or are paid inconsistently and in fractions. We continue to pray the phase will soon pass.
2.THE NEW COMMITTEE
On the 17th of May 2014 a new committee was given the mandate of taking the school to the next level. Mr Nyambuya(maybe he doesnt have a first name) leads leads the committee as chairman, deputised by Mr Masinire, Mr Kaseke is the secretary, Mr Kamureru is the treasurer and Mrs Matemba completes the the team as a committee member. No first names
