EU meddling into internal affairs of Zimbabwe
Bulawayo Progressive Residence Association (BPRA) co-coordinator Rodrick Fayayo reported at a meeting held at its Fidelity Houses offices, Bulawayo on April 14, 2011 that Linda Kalenga, a European Union (EU) official had informed him that, elections in Zimbabwe were likely to be held in September 2012.
The EU Embassy Governance Attaché Isabel Ribot who has been in Zimbabwe for about a year is also reportedly preparing the Zimbabwe's election road map for 2011. Ribot gate crashed at the Independence celebrations without invitation.
Fayayo also informed the meeting that, the EU pledged to release one hundred and fifty thousand Euros (150 000 Euros) for carrying out western education programmes.
He also revealed other financial pledges made to BPRA. These include: US$ 40 000 from Open Society Southern Africa (OSISA), US$ 100 00 from Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and 40 000 pounds from British Embassy through Cathrine Carr, their Information Officer.
The huge sums of money pledged by western donors are meant to capacitate BPRA to campaign on behalf of Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T). To that effect therefore, western powers continue to put untiring efforts to illegally meddle into Zimbabwe's internal affairs.
Fayayo faced reprimand recently from the association for duty negligence. He abandoned his core duties to campaign for Minister of State Enterprises and Parastatals, Gorden Moyo in his bid to lend the MDC-T Bulawayo Provincial Chairmanship.
However, Fayayo was told in no uncertain terms at this meeting by Patrick Tshabalala who said, "BPRA is not an MDC-T appendage and as such its activities should not suffer as a result of your political ambitions." In response Fayayo reiterated that BPRA was a donor driven organisation which can hardly ignore its key stakeholders. In practical terms it means BPRA does not stand for the cause of the local people, but those of the west with sinister intentions at the expense of the country's comfort.
EU is habitually notorious for piping its extraordinarily long nose into Zimbabwe's internal affairs without invitation. This is a gross violation of their diplomatic stand in the host country according to international law.
Last year another European emissary Charles Heatly violated Zimbabwe's rights by working in the Prime Minister's Office to destabilize the country without government clearance.
