POLICE have arrested Midlands Provincial Registrar, Agnes Gambura for allegedly assaulting her subordinate for failing to do a domestic chore she had assigned her at her home.
Gambura allegedly assaulted Fadzai Mudemba, an office orderly at her offices at the government complex in Gweru.
Deputy Officer Commanding Midlands province, Assistant Commissioner Musarashana Mabunda confirmed the assault case.
Police sources said Mudemba reported the assault at Gweru Central Police Station and the case number is IR96:315.
The source said in her statement, Mudemba indicated that she was assaulted by Gambura on February 15 after failing to remove her boss' clothes which she had left to dry on the washing line at her house.
"Gambura washed her clothes on Sunday, February 15 and left them on the washing line to dry. She proceeded to work since they were completing the voter registration process for Chirumanzu- Zibagwe constituency by- elections," said the police source.
The police officer said Mudemba who was also on duty on that day was told by Gambura to remove her clothes from the washing line.
She said Mudemba, however, forgot to go to her boss' house.
"Unfortunately for Mudemba, it rained and her boss' clothes were soaked. This angered the boss who then insulted Mudemba before hitting her with her leather jacket," said the source.
Public Service Commission (PSC) Provincial Inspector, Andrew Chimanyiwa, said the commission was investigating the assault allegations.
