TWO vendors last week appeared before the courts following a protracted wrangle over a boyfriend.
One of them was seeking a protection order against the other on allegations that she was disturbing her peace with her boyfriend.Appearing before Mutare magistrate Mrs Anniah Ndiraya, Blessing Mundondo told the courts that Jessica Mukuze was in the habit of calling her a whore.
"This woman always calls me a whore whenever she see me. She usually comes to my workplace chanting unprintable words and that has been tarnishing my image, Your Worship. At one point she even came to my church and shouted all sorts of insults towards me, interrupting church service. This is affecting me and my marriage and I just want her to stop.
"I am happily married and this is my tenth year in that marriage. I have had enough and I will never know peace unless you grant me this protection order because we do our business in the same area. Whenever she sees me with a male customer she shouts obscenities at me and that is tarnishing my image," she said.
Asked to explain herself, Mukuze had no kind words for the applicant and denied ever insulting her.
Instead, she accused her of having a child out of wedlock with her boyfriend.
Said Mukuze: "Amai ava havaite. She was impregnated by my boyfriend and to this day, the husband does not know that this child is not his.
As if that was not enough, she disrespects me and continues to have an affair with my boyfriend despite the fact that she is married.
"If she is really happily married like she wants the court to believe, then she should leave my man and have fun with her husband. Their affair has been going on for so long but my other colleagues have advised me not to say anything to her. It is only a lie for her to say that I am in the habit of insulting her. "
Mrs Ndiraya granted the protection order, barring Mukuze from insulting Mundondo or going to her work place or residence with intentions of ruining her peace.
