Zanu-PF fails on its election promises

Two years down the road since the disputed 2013 election, President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF has failed to deliver on a single one of its plethora of pledges contained in its high-sounding election manifesto, including promises to create two million jobs.
A former Zanu-PF politburo member said it was always clear that the party would not meet any of its election promises, given its dismal record in office- going on to describe the party's pledges as "a typical hotchpotch of outright lies and pie-in-the sky twaddle meant to hoodwink voters".
Ahead of the contested 2013 elections, Mubage and his party propagandists promised to create at least two million jobs in five years, in addition to pledging to ensure food security in the country, among a litany of other promises that have so far come to naught.
Contrary to to the electoral promises, 4,160 companies have closed down since 2011, sending more than 55,000 employees into destitution overnight.
Economists also say average incomes in Zimbabwe are now at their lowest levels in 60 years, with a survey commissioned by FinMark and ZimStats last month revealing that the majority of the country's adult population has to make do with less than $100 a month.
