President Robert Mugabe caused an embarrassment Saturday as foreign delegates were trapped in a ZESA blackout horror that lasted two (2) hours.
The deeply humiliating incident occurred Saturday afternoon as foreign Heads of State and their officials thronged Meikles Hotel for accreditation for the upcoming SADC summit due for Monday and Tuesday in the capital.
More than 6 diplomats were trapped in an elevator for a gruelling two hours when the Zanu-PF controlled Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, ZESA, cut out power supplies to the CBD section where the Meikles hotel is situated.
There was confusion and pandemonium with some screaming for help while Central Intelligence Officers bit their lips helplessly as the whole commotion continued.
It was only when ZESA restored supplies that calm returned.
