Corruption has been mentioned as the major vice that is crippling the revival of Zimbabwe's economy and the government has been blamed for turning a blind eye on how to deal with such a crime leading to its escalation.

Farai Marvelous Kuveya said corruption is the vice that has destroyed the nation and the government has a duty to curb such a crime.

"Despite having brilliant pieces of legislation to deal with corruption and bodies like the Anti Corruption Commision of Zimbabwe which are a result of acts of parliament, we are seriously lacking in political will to deal with these problems," he said. "We should let them (the ACCZ) have complete independence from the state, falling under the Ministry of Home Affairs makes them open to manipulation and abuse by their "boss" the minister in charge and that makes them harmless, toothless bulldogs and defeats the whole purpose."

He said the only notable achievement was the arrest of its own CEO Ngonidzashe Gumbo, whilst bigwigs and political heavyweights continue to evade the scrutiny of the body and yet it is common knowledge that they are the biggest perpetrators of corruption.
He said the word corruption is defined in the 1st schedule of the Zimbabwe
Anti-Corruption Commission Act [9.22] as any offence related to
corruption.

"There is no specific definition of the word corruption the definition of the word is derived from offences related to corruption  which are listed," he said."Giving or receiving a bribe as an inducement or reward , Corruptly using a false document
*The intentional non-disclosure of/or concealment of a transaction from  one principal in order to deceive, the deceitful non-disclosure or concealment from one principal of a personal interest in a transaction,Criminal abuse of power by a public officer."

Kuveya said sadly despite the wanton abuse of Public offices and public funds, it is  yet to be seen if any notable arrests would be made.

"But just the parading of smaller fish arrested for "petty" crimes has been seen," he said. "When will we see the day when the "big fish" shall be made answerable? When will the long arm of the law catch up with all perpetrators of corrupt activities without fear or favor? It is my feeling that the day is very near, in the meantime, let us speak out about these ills.. I advocate for ZERO TOLERANCE TO CORRUPTION! As we go to church this morning let us pray to the Lord, who is the God of justice, that our nation may be set free from this vice of corruption and that our land may be healed."
