Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has warned party cadres to desist from being selfish and seeking to have their way outside the ruling party as that will lead them into political oblivion.

Speaking at the National Fire Week launch in Nyamakate, Hurungwe, yesterday, VP Mnangagwa said some party cadres were failing to comprehend the political landscape in the country and went against the ruling party.

"We see, but cannot see well, and hear yet cannot hear well," he said. "There is no life that can be obtained if you are not with those who are ruling the country.

"Once you get out of Zanu-PF, your life starts deteriorating and becomes shrivelled like a leaf. Do not seek unhappiness in life, but go with the winning team."

This was in apparent reference to dismissed party cadres such as former Mashonaland West provincial chairman Temba Mliswa who was defeated by Zanu-PF candidate Keith Guzah in the just ended Hurungwe West by-election.

Guzah garnered 5 961 votes against Mliswa's 4 239 votes.
