Grace Mugabe consoles Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo and his wife Beatrice at their home in Borrowdale, Harare, yesterday. The couple recently lost a daughter, Zanele
The First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe has consoled Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo over the death of her daughter, Zanele.
Zanele was last month found dead at her off campus apartment in Cape Town, South Africa where she was pursuing university education.
Dr Mugabe visited Professor Moyo's home in Borrowdale earlier this Monday and spent time with family members who included Zanele's grandmother, Mrs Beatrice Moyo and Zanele's siblings.
The First Lady shared many words of comfort derived from the Bible teachings and urged the family to consider sharing their loss with others who have had similar experiences of losing a child.
"We people on earth are like flowers in God's garden which he can visit anytime, and Zanele was the flower that he chose at that time. We may cry and ask many questions but the Almighty made his choice. I also want to advise them to go out and hear how others who have gone through such an experience of losing a child have managed to deal with the situation. We may say all sorts of words of comfort but it is not the same,' she said.
Dr Mugabe received the news of Zanele's death while she was on a visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Women Federation.
Meanwhile, investigations are still underway to establish the cause of Zanele's death and circumstances around it.
President Robert Mugabe has registered dissatisfaction with initial reports on causes and circumstances surrounding Zanele's death, saying government will press for thorough investigations into the issue.
