The Media Monitoring Project Zimbabwe (MMPZ) has bemoaned that investigative journalism in Zimbabwe is under serious threat and emphasised on the need to shield laws to protect the media practitioners from the powers that be.
This came after the arrest of Sunday Mail journalists over a story in which the paper reported that top police officer was linked to the massive killing of elephants in Hwange which the police have claimed was a lie.
"Investigative journalism under threat. Maybe we need Shield Laws to protect journalists from being forced to reveal their source,' posted MMPZ.
Journalist now fear to report corruption and scandals about big people and police officers as they are in most cases victimised for that.
