Democratic Assembly For Restoration and Empowerment (DARE) President Gilbert Dzikiti has accused Zanu PF of impunity against opposition political parties.

Dzikiti said impunity in politics is when you do an act with guarantee of no accountability emanating from the act. "Our constitution has guidelines on almost every aspect of our life.In Zimbabwe it is Common knowledge that if you are from Zanu PF, you directly or indirectly have impunity. You can physically attack a sanctioned meeting or opposition member without consequence. A Zanu PF member can beat up an opposition member without fear of ultimately facing the wrath of law," he said. "This creates a vigilante justice system parallel to the formal justice and police system where the party is supreme rather than the constitutional institutions."

He said presently that is the situation obtaining in Zimbabwe.

"A Zanu PF member can assault anyone without fear of the law as the system is designed in such a way that an arrangement prior to the act would have been obtained," he said.

"The attack itself will be party sponsored and monitored where immediatly the opposition is arrested as perpetrators of violence. This is on the rise in Zimbabwe as we move towards watershed 2018 elections. The State police, justice and intelligence systems are superceded by ZANU PF Party's political interests. The people who abducted ,tortured and later made Itai Dzamara disappear did so with impunity."

Dzikiti said the people who murderd Patrick Nabanyana ,Talent Mabika ,Cain Nkala ,Rashiwe Guzha ,Edson Shirihuru and others complete impunity. "Matebeleland atrocities happened with guaranteed impunity .Impunity is more dangerous in Zimbabwe since it is inferred impunity," Dzikiti.

"Fact is our freedoms as guaranteed in the constitution can not be followed to their logical conclusion. We have a crisis in Zimbabwe where everyone is not equal before the law and in institutions. Such a system becomes regime domination and negates our national constitution and republicanism by creating and abetting a vigilante and Junta system of physical power over constitutional freedoms."

He said the level of hardball politics displayed by Zanu Pf is an assault on the National Constitution.

"The state army becomes party army ,the police becomes party police,State intelligence becomes party intelligencia bent on protecting party whims ,agenda and objectives without any divide between civil state duty and party duty.We indeed have a crisis of impunity," he said.

"However DARE promises a clear divide and shift from indirectly subverting the constitutional freedoms.A right should be non negotiable and cast in stone in our republic.Equality before the law is the backbone of our democracy.Institutions are created to safeguard democracy and must be made strong and incapacitated as such."
