The Meteorological Services Department says no meaningful rains are to be expected until the end of the year.
"No rains are to be expected until next week, the temperatures are likely to continue soaring," he said.
This year is witnessing the worst elnino in 18 years and Zimbabwe is already feeling the grinding effects of the phenomenon.
The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) this week released a special alert in which it warned that about 6,3 million people in drought-stricken Southern Africa are likely to face food shortages.
The department also said temperatures that have started soaring will only come down when heavy rains fall.
While
farmers are at a point where they desperately need rains to save their
crops, the situation looks gloomy after the latest weather forecasts.
Meteorological
Services Department Head Public Weather Services, Mr Tich Zinyemba,
said although some parts of the country will receive isolated showers,
heavy rains will not be experienced in the last days of 2015.
