A Chitungwiza con-woman, who is facing five counts of fraud involving more than $4 000, was on Tuesday sentenced to 210 hours of community service after pleading guilty to two more charges of a similar offence.

Muchaneta Nhakwi (52) of 5659 Unit J, Seke, Chitungwiza, who swindled four people in a separate pending case, duped two more people of cash amounting to $2 175.

This was after she had promised to secure them training vacancies for nursing at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

Nhakwi pleaded guilty to fraud charges before Chitungwiza magistrate, Ms Blessing Murwisi, who slapped her with a two-year prison term, but conditionally set aside six months for five years.

Twelve months were further suspended on condition she restitutes Chido Chidodo (26) and Licolin Muyenziwa (50) of Budiriro and Chitungwiza respectively the sum of $2 175 by end of March.

The remaining six months were commuted to unpaid work at Dudzai Primary School in the dormitory town.

The prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa proved that sometime in March last year, Chidodo met Nhakwi, who stated that she could facilitate her training vacancy at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

Chidodo had applied for the May intake and handed her application to Nhakwi who demanded $800 which she claimed was for administration fee.

She later asked for more money giving various reasons and the amount totalled $1 300.

Nhakwi was handed the money in instalments in August and she also met Muyenziwa using the same modus operandi and duped him of $875. After the payments, Nhakwi took the pair to the hospital introducing them as Zanu-PF youths and requested the authorities to consider them.

However, after they failed to get the places, the pair reported the offence to the police leading to her arrest.

In the other case Nhakwi is alleged to have swindled Nelly Zvekare, Fatima Leven, Yeukai Chakanyuka and Irene Mangwandi using the same trick.

She was remanded out of custody to Friday.
