AN Odzi man was arraigned before the courts last week after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend for refusing to sleep with him. Sito Mafemba (29) of Drifters Mine in Odzi appeared before senior magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura facing two charges of unlawful entry and assault.
The court heard that on March 8, Mafemba unlawfully entered into Rose Munangwa's bedroom at Ndembera Farm in Odzi.
He later dragged her out of the house and assaulted her while demanding to sleep with her.
Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
"On March 8, Mafemba unlawfully entered into Munangwa's bedroom with the intention of engaging in sex with her, but she refused," said Mr Karombe.
He pleaded guilty, but said he never forced her since they were lovers.
He said: "I was in love with this woman. I never forced her to sleep with me and I entered into her bedroom with her consent since we are lovers. I did not know that she had other thoughts."
The court heard that Mafemba was only stopped from further assaulting Munangwa by his friends, Tinashe Banda and David Muranda who later reported the matter to the police.
"I admit to assaulting her Your Worship, but not in the manner she alleges. This woman is a liar," he said.
Mrs Chiundura remanded him in custody to Wednesday waiting for his sentence.
