FOUR Harare men have been arraigned at the Western Commonage Courts after being found with 17 National Identity Cards that they could not account for.

Orphan Rwanza (39) of New Mabvuku, Admire Mhungu (32) of Budiriro 4, Denford Shereni (28) also of Budiriro 4 and Kurauone Chirume (32) of Budiriro 2 appeared before magistrate Ms Nyaradzo Ringisai yesterday facing 17 counts of being found in possession of identity documents belonging to another person.

The four who are all unemployed pleaded not guilty and were remanded to today.

They claimed to have picked the IDs and were on their way to surrendering them to a police station.

Prosecuting, Mr Tony Kamudyariwa said the four were busted by CID officers on patrol.

"At the time of arrest the four accused persons were travelling in a white Honda Fit vehicle that was being driven by Mhungu," said Mr Kamudyariwa.

"On August 26, 2016 at around 10am, the four accused persons were stopped at Tagarira Shopping Centre in New Magwegwe suburb, by police officers who were on patrol.

"Their vehicle was searched and 17 national identity cards were recovered.

"They had no right to possess identity documents belonging to other persons," said the prosecutor.
