Fresh calls have been made for the ouster of Saviour Kasukuwere, the Zanu PF political commissar.

This follows the party's rare by- election defeat in Norton.

Disgruntled war veterans are leading the chorus and blame Kasukuwere for the defeat.

"Kasukuwere failed the party and there is now internal talk that Zanu PF made a huge blunder in sacking war veterans" an unnamed source is quoted saying by the private administered NewsDay.

"There is a move to push for an aggregate resolution by provinces for a national commissar, who is a war veteran"

The ruling party lost a by-election in Norton for the first time since 1980.

Zanu PF's Ronald Chindedza lost to independent candidate Mliswa.

Mliswa garnered 8 927 votes against Chindedza's 6 192.

However, Kasukuwere had unkind words for his rivals, the war veterans.

"War veteran's leader, Christopher Mutsvangwa and his group must shut up" he said.

"This is only one seat we lost out of 30 by-elections we won. That, by any measure, cannot be called failure".
