Muzarabani - Two people are alleged to have perished in two separate road accidents along Muzarabani-Centenary highway yesterday (Friday) according to an eye witness.
An eye witness Gilbert Kanhutu from Muzarabani said a commuter omnibus from Kairezi heading for Harare killed one person on the spot while 10 were injured.
In another incident a haulage truck carrying food aid was involved in an accident killing the driver on the spot.
"I witnessed two accidents yesterday one at Mhene village involving a kombi from Kairezi going to Harare and another a haulage truck at Chawarura village carrying food aid from Muzarabani."
It is alleged the kombi had eleven passengers on board and the breaking system malfunctioned whilst completing Muzarabani Mountain known for its sharp curves and it veered off the road and crushed. An elderly woman died instantly and ten others were injured and are currently admitted at St Albert's hospital.
In a related matter a haulage truck is said to have lost its breaks when trying to avoid a head on collision resulting in the driver losing control of the truck killing the driver in the process.
"He was accompanied by a cop from Centenary but l am not sure of his condition at the moment," said Kanhuta
Meanwhile, Muzarabani Mountain has become a black spot and many deaths have been recorded on the mountain haulage trucks and public transport.
Efforts to contact Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe were fruitless as he is off duty on a weekend.
