Two former farm workers at Holly Lodge Farm in Umguza allegedly forcefully stayed at the farm and demanded money from the farm owner, threatening to assault him before they demanded his car or $50 000.
This was heard by the Bulawayo magistrate when Obey Hove Mutevera (33) and Luckson Mutevera (32) appeared in court facing five counts of threat of violence, damage to property and illegal settling in the farm.
It was alleged that on February 21 this year, the two were at the Holly Lodge farm when they approached Hector Dando demanding cash before they waived a pliers on him threatening to assault him if he failed to give them money.
They also said they would not leave the place until he gave them the money.
It is also alleged that the two men threatened to tie Dando before bringing their families to live in his house.
On March 31 they demanded $50 000 or a truck belonging to Dando.
They were then issued with notice that they were no longer employed at his farm and they were advised to vacate.
On 13 and 19 April the two continued to stay at the farm, cultivating and irrigating their vegetables using water from the farm owner's reservoir.
They then used wooden stoppers to block water pipes from feeding the sprinklers which watered the farm owner's crops.
They also allegedly poached for fire wood from his farm. A report was made to the police leading to their arrest.
They were however found not guilty and acquitted at the close of the state case due to lack of evidence.
