Outgoing US ambassador Charles Ray proud of Matabeleland

OUTGOING US ambassador to Zimbabwe Charles Ray says he has great respect and admiration for Matabeleland region saying all Zimbabweans should be very proud of the region.
Ray, told Bulawayo based reporters on Tuesday that he enjoyed all his visits to the region.
"I would like to state firmly how much I have always enjoyed visiting Matabeleland and how much respect I have for the people here. This is a hardworking and passionate part of the country" he said in his prepared speech.
"All Zimbabweans can and should be very proud of Matabeleland, its beauty, its language and its potential. This area will thrive once economic investment returns and the people are given a real chance to build a vibrant economy" said President Barak Obama's top representative.
Ray added "Reflecting on my nearly three years in Zimbabwe, I remain cautiously optimistic. The long term future for this country is bright, due in large part to the overwhelmingly energetic, dedicated and intelligent young people who make up the majority of Zimbabwe's population."
