A 33-year-old man from Victoria falls who claims his wife infected him with an STI on four occasions got the shock of his life when the woman confessed in court that she was a hooker offering her services for as little as $1.

Olivia Tshuma, age not given, admitted that she would frequent drinking spots with female friends and some men would approach her and offer cash in exchange for sex in the bush.

Samuel Mitunda dragged Tshuma to court seeking a restraining order after she reportedly refused to separate with him.

She allegedly became violent whenever the issue was raised.

Tshuma broke down and sobbed in court, begging Mitunda to give her another chance.

"I go to the bar to drink with female friends and some men would come and take me to the market or bush where they would sleep with me after promising some money. They usually ended up giving me $1," Tshuma told Victoria Falls magistrate Sharon Rosemani on Wednesday.

Tshuma and her husband have been customarily married for three years and stay together at Aerodrome, Victoria Falls.

Mitunda, a restaurant employee at Comfort restaurant in the resort town, told the court that he suspected that his wife was a hooker as she would frequent night clubs in his absence and sometimes sleep out.

He said Tshuma was violent as she did not want him to dump her hence he approached the court to help him drive her away through a protection order.

"She goes to bars to drink and last week she left home on Thursday and came back on Sunday and I heard that she was fighting with women over a man at the bar," said Mitunda, adding, "She has infected me with an STI on four occasions in our marriage and she also uses my clothes to wipe her menstrual blood to fix me."

He told the court he no longer felt safe staying with Tshuma as his wife because she becomes violent each time he tries to separate with her and hides his clothes as well.

"She is very violent and threatens me with death if I leave her. Sometimes she pelts me with stones and assaults me.

"I want her to stop threatening me. She follows me to work and hurls insults at me," said Mitunda as he pleaded for a protection order which was later granted to him by the magistrate.

In response a sobbing Tshuma begged to be given another chance saying she wanted to continue being married to Mitunda.

"I am sorry if I offended you. Your Worship he says he no longer wants me but I cannot move out because I can't get another man to marry me. He should give me another chance because we have been married for three years," said Tshuma adding that she wanted to reform.

The magistrate ordered her to stop harassing her husband or visit him at his work place or being violent towards him.
