MDC-T youths threaten to ‘arrest' Jonathan Moyo

MDC-T youths have threatened to arrest Higher and Tertiary Education minister Jonathan Moyo over allegations that he misappropriated over $400 000 from the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (Zimdef).
Moyo and his deputy Godfrey Gandawa have since last week been under the spotlight, with some angry citizens calling for their arrest for their alleged role in the scandal.
President Robert Mugabe and his deputy Phelekezela Mphoko have defended Moyo and blocked the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission from arresting the minister.
MDC-T youth leader Happymore Chidziva said last week the campaign to effect citizen's arrest on Moyo would be running under the #MyZimbabwe movement.
"This is a call for a citizen's arrest of the corrupt minister Jonathan Moyo," he said.
"Corruption should not be condoned at any time. What we are seeing is that instead of dealing with the issue at hand, they are bringing in their party factional battles.
"The money that was stolen is for the entire nation and bringing out issues like funding the Zanu-PF's one-million-man march is irrational; claiming that they funded President Robert Mugabe's birthday has nothing to do with Zimbabwe."
He added: "Whenever people see him they should alert us.
"We have a team that is ready to arrest him so that he will be brought before the courts to answer the charges. It is our duty under #MyZimbabwe to bring sanity in the country and make it shine again."
"We need to be proud of our country and restore lost dignity but this will be impossible when we have corrupt and arrogant leadership," Chidziva said.
He claimed there was overwhelming evidence against Moyo and his deputy and the law must not be applied selectively.
Some social movement leaders and student leaders have also threatened to stage demonstrations against Moyo.
