Mthwakazi Liberation Front has vowed to continue fighting for the liberation of Matabeleland from Zimbabwe amid concerns the Robert Mugabe led government has allegedly continued to violate the people of the region's rights since independence in 1980.

Party's spokesperson Ndabezinhle Fuyane said the articles and specifications mentioned on the 1992 UN declarations on the human rights of persons belonging to national or religious or ethical or linguistic minorities is a case supposed to be observed by those in leadership.

He said the mthwakazians were fighting against the evils of the Zimbabwean government and were determined to achieve their independence.

He said only the people of Mthawakazi must support the cause to be successful.

"MLF vows to stand against this capitalism to achieve our independence which is just but overdue," he said.

"Surprisingly, this government has violated all the articles of the 1948 Universal Declaration of human rights. These violations has seen the suffering and displacement of Mthwakazi people, Gukurahundi enleashed on us resulting to the killing of more than 20 000 innocent souls which is one of the traumatic experiences under the rule of Zanu PF," he said.

"Due to these violations MLF and other Mthwakazi organisations seek to create a moral and ethical duty to protect the vulnerable people of Mthwakazi in all angles from the continued violations. The Zanu PF's 1979 grand plan continue to violate our rights especially on the cultural and language aspect in denying us to develop our cultural and language values by a massive deployment and injecting of government employees characterized by 99% of shonas in the region."

"We therefore as Mthwakazi organisations have the mandate to guard against such vulnerabilities. We have seen the arrests of protestors. Their efforts won't stop us from going ahead."
