Peter Moyo, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Beitbridge Rural District Council (BRDC), says his emphasis in the drought-prone district will be to build more irrigation schemes.
Moyo told The Mirror in an interview that fighting droughts will be his main focus.
"Beitbridge is located in region five and receives very little rains. For instant, we are likely to lose quite a number of livestock if we do not receive rains in the next 10-15 days.
"I am however looking forward to tirelessly working with each and every BRDC stakeholder in agriculture, health and education service delivery," he said.
Moyo was born in 1968 at Madali Primary School, located in Beitbridge West. Between 1988 and 1990, he joined the Ministry of Education Sports and Culture and taught at Matshila Shokwe Primary in Beitbridge Rural.
From 1991 to 1994, he trained as a primary school teacher at Gwanda ZINTEC College.
In 2008, Moyo was promoted as the senior administration officer, then the principal administration officer in 2010 up to 2014. He was then promoted to District Administrator for Umzingwane district in Matebeleland South in April 2015.
After a year in April 2016, Moyo started working as the acting Provincial Administrator for Gwanda where he served till the 14th of October, the day he reported for duty at Beitbridge Rural District office working as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Moyo is a Methodist church member, married to Joyce Moyo who also happens to be a teacher at Beitbridge Government Primary School.
"My wife has been a teacher from the year 1998 where she taught at Dulivhadzimu Primary school up to 2005.
"She then transferred to Beitbridge Government School where she taught from 2006 up to date," said Moyo.
The two are blessed with two children.
