Zanu-PF succession

Dear Editor,
Please find my comment on the succession issue below
Zanu-PF must admit that President Mugabe has been at the of party and has done very well to keep the party in power from the day Zimbabwe gained her independence. The contribution made by the President and First Secretary of the party will be difficult to match.
There has been talk on the need for a successor or succession plan. This talk is rational, but not provided for in the party's constitution. Yes there is a system of election at an elective congress, but this system alone will not be enough to unite the party in the face of factional jockeying for the top post of First Secretary.
The President HE. Cde R. G. Mugabe needs to help us the card-carrying members of the party. The President needs to help us and nominate a successor of his choice who will carry forward the vision, legacy and leadership of the President in a manner that will keep Zanu-PF in power.
President Mugabe knows his people very well, and he knows who is reliable and sharp enough to carry the baton. This is why I urge the next People's conference to pass a resolution that empowers the President to nominate a successor who will stand against others in the race for the top job.
The President's choice will not limit others from contesting, the President must guide us in choosing a successor, and the people must endorse the candidate or choose another. This approach will help keep the party in power and steer Zanu-PF clear of the Malawi Congress Party fate.
Yes, President Mugabe must nominate a successor who will battle it out with other interested candidates and that is a resolution that some of us will be campaigning for.
Zanu-PF must remain in power and addressing succession is the first step towards keeping the party in power.
