BEITBRIDGE armed robbers blamed for numerous violent incidents including some unsolved murders on the banks of the Limpopo River have fled their bases after vigilante groups killed three of the suspected criminals.

some of the suspected robbers were stoned and whipped to death after being hunted down by crowds, who combed the bush a few hundred metres east of the south African side of Beitbridge.

Two died on the spot and the third is reported to have succumbed to injuries while admitted at Musina hospital.

Police in south Africa have not commented on the deaths, but videos that went viral on social media in Beitbridge showed the robbers being attacked by mobs, who later killed them.

It is understood the robbers were tracked down after a series of robberies in the small bushy area used by people illegally crossing into south Africa to shop.
