ZAPU Congress 18th to 21st December 2015

The time has come for ZAPU members to stand up and be counted by choosing leaders of their choice. Leaders who will continue with the long held tradition of revolutionary politics in the party and make ZAPU fit for purpose. We would like to congratulate those who made their portfolios functional when they were elected into their positions in 2010 and we say the time is up for those who were elected into positions and just went to sleep and forgot their mandate. We know them and we will not give them a second chance.
Those who will retain their portfolios will work collectively with those cadres who will be newly elected. The ZAPU Congress comes in the eve of 2018 when the national elections will be held, the new leadership will have enough time to set the ship on course before the elections. ZAPU won't be the same again, new and vibrant leadership will ensure that ZAPU is the only party of choice in Zimbabwe with a proper political program which will give hope to the dejected people of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has become hell on earth for most of the people; people are tired of this Sodom and Gomora caused by ZANU's unjust laws and misrule.
People of Zimbabwe deserve a better leadership; People of Zimbabwe deserve a better country with a functional economy and to live in a country which respects the rule of law and citizens' rights. ZAPU should emerge sleek, slender and stronger from the congress with a new leadership which is capable and ready to hit the ground running. The past five years has seen the party recruit all kinds of people into the party, now the pool of talent is too big,
ZAPU as a revolutionary party will continue introducing ground-breaking ideas, for example ZAPU was the first to embark in an armed struggle was the first to introduce devolution of power, was the first to introduce separation of country and state president powers by banning a state president from remaining a party president. ZAPU as a Democratic party permits all ZAPU members to contest for any position in the party including the post of president. ZAPU is a well organised party which will sit in a well organised Congress and come up with well thought out strategies of reviving the economy.
No one will block the Party from its mandate and in ZAPU we believe. Our fellow Zimbabweans have gone through pain since 1980 under ZANU misrule and now the suffering is intolerable. Ikhetheni kusakhanya Inkunzi ematholeni.
Never ! Never! and Never again shall ZAPU be dragged into another unity accord like the 1987 which did not yield any results.
