Zanu-PF Youth League: Beware of the bastards!
29 May 2016 at 10:18hrs | Views
My plea at the moment is that Kudzai Chipanga and his fellow comrades in the Zanu-PF Youth League should keep their feet on the ground. After scoring such a historic political goal, the temptation is to become big-headed and start thinking kuti vakukwana bhutsu size 92.
May I ask a few questions? What do you think was going on in Joice Mujuru's head as Zanu-PF showed its true grassroots and organizational colours on Africa Day at Robert Mugabe square? What do you think was happening to the departed Acie Lumumba? As for Morgan, well, the man is not well, so let's leave a shaken Eriza to take care of hubby.
By the way, Eriza has a very interesting story to tell us and like the good sister she is, she will shelve it for now. In any case, the story was always meant for tomorrow and just like the sun will shine, tomorrow shall come.
Thumbs up to the Zanu-PF Youth League for organising that monster of a Million Man March. Vapfana makadadisa mhani. You say "Big Up" handiti? Wish I was still young. Once again, Big Up and thanks!
Now that the monster Million Man March is over, the opposition is shaken and the imperialists are thinking twice, beware of the devil.
The Bible says the devils comes in devious ways. Let me use the scriptures to hammer the point home. 2 Corinthians 11:14 says; "No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light" while 2 Corinthians 11:3 goes further saying; "But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ."
Now that the Zanu-PF youths have shown their capacity, there are some devils within and outside Zanu-PF who will dress themselves like angels and act like the devious serpent. These devils will seek to corrupt the Zanu-PF youths and led them astray.
I know some are already saying, aahh, Bishop why are you trying to spoil the party mood. Stop seeing shadows and celebrate. Well, bhuku dzvene rinoti farai zvine tariro.
I pray to the Almighty God that the Million Man March has shown those with dirty factional thoughts and exaggerated ambitions in Zanu-PF, and believe me they are there, that President Mugabe still commands unmatched support and that he is the only Zanu-PF candidate who can win elections in 2018.
I know they are some in Zanu-PF who doubt this and are busy whispering "this Bishop haana kukwana," but Africa Day was the first bold confirmation of this prophecy. Tichazenge tichitaura zvimwe as we go towards 2018.
My plea at the moment is that Kudzai Chipanga and his fellow comrades in the Zanu-PF Youth League should keep their feet on the ground. After scoring such a historic political goal, the temptation is to become big-headed and start thinking kuti vakukwana bhutsu size 92.
Some with destructive machinations will even lie to the Zanu-PF Youth League that there is a cobbler in town who can fix this size 92 shoe for them. In the heat of the moment, some of the youths may get carried away and start believing kuti Bishop Lazarus ndiye Jesu.
Please let's join the youths in the celebrations but let's not hijack their party. As young boys and girls, understandably, there is lots of youthful exuberance and so let's let the youths be. If they are to make mistakes, let them be genuine mistakes that they learn from, not planted sinister agendas that will destroy their future.
Listening to Chipanga talking at the Million Man March, I said to myself, is this the same boy who over the past few months has been showing total disrespect for the country's freedom fighters?
Chipanga said lots of sensible things and to be honest, he cleansed himself at that podium. He spoke from his heart and as he sat down, it dawned on me that whatever this boy has been saying against war veterans, someone was feeding him that poison.
You see, Kudzai Chipanga's father was one of the first Zanu cadres to be trained in Ghana (you remember Commander Shadreck Chipanga of the 1964 group?) during the liberation struggle and all along I could not reconcile why Kudzai was showing disrespect to the war veterans.
The only conclusion is that aipakwa rubbish chaiyo and on Africa Day, he vomited all the nonsense and spoke sense. In fact, he was made to vomit the nonsense the day before the Million Man March and by the time he took to the stage, he spoke like a guerrilla's son.
So going forward, I appeal to Kudzai to stop being fooled. Be your own man because as the Youth League, you have made a point. Don't let anyone start making you think that you can be a game changer in Zanu-PF. Zanu-PF is way too complex than what some in it know.
I have always told people, Zanu-PF is not a political party. NO. It's a political system and as we all know, systems can be so deceiving.
Philippians 2:2-4 says: "Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
The best complement that the Zanu-PF Youth League should receive now and in future is that — hey, these boys and girls pulled this monster march and still remained of the same mind. The real deal starts after the event.
Romans 12:3-5, takes the gospel a little further saying: "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
The Zanu-PF Youth League should not be fooled into thinking that just because they organised that highly successful march, everyone else in the party does not matter now. Don't let your achievement be your bereavement. Success, if not well managed, has the tendency to eat its own children.
I want to close today's sermon with two scriptures from the Book of Proverbs that the Zanu-PF Youth League should pin on its walls.
Proverbs 16: Vs 12 and 18: "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall . . . Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips."
The Zanu-PF Youth League is not Zanu-PF, but its an important arm of Zanu-PF.
To Kudzai and the other comrades in the Youth League, one of my favourite poets and author from Canada, Margaret Atwood in her famous book, "The Handmaid's Tale," wrote a powerful statement saying: "Don't let the bastards grind you down." Please don't macomrades!
Bishop is out!
