7:50pm, 20 Mar - +263 7* *** ****: I would like your assistance inn the following matter. There is a school in Bulawayo BAHS (Bulawayo Adventist high school) which segregates children on gender lines. girls are forced to do two practicals ie food and nutrition and fashion and fabrics. inn place of on of the practicals boys are given accounts. I tried begging the deputy head Mr T Moyo ( 07* *** ****) about the issue Personaly but was told that its the school policy and it can not change. i then quoted to him the ministerial policy on equality of genders in class but he remained resolute on his policy. On further probing i was told she can only do accounts if she can do woodwork only otherwise she will continue to do TWO PRACTICAL subjects. this is a form one and two girls concerned here. Personally i feel this is against the constitution right of the child chapter 2 17(1) as read with chapter 2 s27; chpter4 s56 and section 80 of the constitution of Zimbabwe. may your office swiftly assist us. if its part of education ministerial policy please advice us before we sue the school. this is as urgent matter as other students are learning while girls are being left behind.
