10 days for Zimbabwe to sort out 2018 SWC re-admission

Zimbabwe has less than 10 to pay off Brazilian coach, Valinhos and negotiate for re-admission into the 2018 FIFA World Cup or risk watching from the sidelines.

The World Cup qualifying draw will be held in St Petersburg, Russia on 25 July and failure by ZIFA to clear the mess within 10 days means the Warriors will have to wait until the 2022 World Cup.

While FIFA says it has recorded a first as all 208 nations have signed up to participate in the campaign, the last nation on the alphabet list Zimbabwe might have nothing to do with events in St Petersburg following the country's suspension over the Valinhos debt.

FIFA Development Officer for East and Southern Africa, Ashford Mamelodi said the Warriors are still suspended, hinting that even if a payment is done immediately, re-admission is not certain.

Efforts to get information from ZIFA on their immediate plan of action regarding the matter were fruitless as calls to the ZIFA CEO, Jonathan Mashingaidze were fruitless as his phone became unreachable.

Mashingaidze had initially advised the ZBC News to call in 30 minutes time.
