PROMINENT soccer personality Omega Sibanda and 11 others have been deregistered as Fifa Player Agents under unclear circumstances.

Sibanda who is also the Zimbabwe Player Agents Association chairman is the only notable name missing from the list on the official Fifa website link (Fifa.com), player agents list.

Zifa is responsible for supplying the world mother body Fifa, with information on who would have passed the examinations or met all requirements for player agents as well as other organs like the referees list.

Zimbabwe had 32 player agents before the latest turn of events.

"Fifa has no power to de-list anyone but they can only do so upon the advice of our national association or according to the list they would have received from the same association," said an agent whose name appears on the list.

Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze who sounded a bit shocked that Sibanda's name was not on the list, said he was going to verify the accuracy of the list. He however confirmed that some agents were removed from the list for non compliance.

"I have been in constant communication with our agents and advised them to regularize their insurance policies and standing with the association.

For one to be a player agent you need to have a professional liability insurance policy with a reputable company and in the absence of that, your status as an agent falls away," said Mashingaidze.

Another   agent   said   the   reason    why    some agents were also removed was the huge renewal fee of $5 000.

"We wrote a letter of complaint to Zifa some two years ago because most of us cannot afford to pay $5 000 renewal fee every year but up to now we have not been replied," said the agent.
