Melusi Yeni, who plays Pat in Muvhango angered his lover and make-up artist, Angela Dzara, after she found out two weeks ago, through the media, that Melusi appeared in court over maintenance.
Melusi, who used to play Phenyo in Generations, started dating Angela before he joined Muvhango but they kept their relationship secret.
Sunday Sun reported that his relationship with the woman, who stays in the same complex as him, was just a one-night stand.
An insider at Muvhango said: "Melusi was embarrassed and didn't know what to do or say and the crew was shocked to hear of their love affair."
Sunday Sun has learnt that Angela left and joined rival soap Scandal! after the incident.
"She comes from a wealthy family and didn't rely on Muvhango's money to live well.
"In fact, she told us that her parents advised her to leave the soap so they (her and Melusi) can have space to cool off. If she were to stay there, we would have to enjoy their endless fights," an insider told the Sunday Sun.
Another actress close to Angela described her as the sweetest person on the crew.
"The fact that she caused a scene means she had proof and that it was something serious.
"She is a pretty and calm person who likes her expensive clothes. I can't imagine her causing fights.
"But as soon as I heard about her and Melusi I knew he was in the wrong," the source explained.
"But producers have kept mum about the whole situation."
Both Melusi and Angela refused to comment and referred all enquiries to Muvhango's publicist.
Muvhango's publicist Amanda Ngudle told the Paper: "This is an internal matter and we can't openly comment about it.
