Low turn out at Zahara's Bulawayo show

Less than 200 people attended the Zahara Show at Bulawayo's Amphitheatre on Saturday night.
The acclaimed South African singer however did not disappoint her fans as she went on undettered to show what has made her a household name the world over. The talented musician did show any signs of being disappointed by the low turn up and got the crowd up on their feet through out her spectacular 3 hour stage performance dishing out her greats from her debut album and her latest release Phendula.
Born Bulela Mkutukana on 9 November 1988, Zahara started singing in her school's choir when she was six years old, and at the age of nine she was told to join the senior choir because of her strong voice.
In 2011 Zahara released her debut album Loliwe, which proved to be a big success; it went platinum in 13 days and went double platinum after just 17 days, selling over 100,000 copies in South Africa. The music video for her debut single, " Loliwe", has eclipsed the 1.3 million views mark on YouTube. On 1 May 2012, at the annual South African Music Awards, Zahara won eight awards, including "Best Female Artist" and "Album of the Year".
Bulawayo fans are of late shunning artists from South Africa preferring to rather fill up venues of local artists like Jah Prayzer who has sale out shows every week he is in Bulawayo. Last month Generations actor Winnie Modise played host to no more than 50 people most of them journalists and security staff at a cocktail party at the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel.
