SA based Zimbabweans warned not to speak Shona in public

A WhatsApp message circulating among the Zimbabwean community in South Africa has urged Shona speakers to desist from speaking the language in public "over the next few days".

This follows an incident involved 93-year-old president Robert Mugabe's young wife Dr Aim 'StopIt' Grace Ntombizodwa's attack on a young South African national.

The first lady is accused of attacking 20-year-old Gabriella Engels with an electrical extension cord after the model went to see the Mugabes' sons Robert and Chatunga at the Capital 20 West Hotel in Johannesburg's upmarket Sandton district on Sunday.

The message reads:

WARNING

Do you have friends and Family in South Africa?

Please warn them not to move alone over the next few days and not to speak in Shona Publicly. They is a real Chance that Some overzealous South Africans might decide to attack ordinary Zimbabweans because of the Dr Grace Mugabe incident.

Please Please just advise them to be vigilant over the next few days observing how the case is moving.
