Local fashion designer, Taf the Taylor and style icon Gilmore Tee, who are in Cape Town for the South African Menswear Week were yesterday featured on SABC's Expresso Show, an opportunity they used to market Zim fashion.
Speaking to Expresso presenter Leigh-Anne Williams, Taf The Taylor real name Tafadzwa Moyo, shared what he had in store for the fashion fair which has its focus on Spring/Summer 2016/17 collections.
He revealed that his collection titled "Warrior" was inspired by the hustles young Africans go through.
"My collection entitled Warrior is a collective of our hard work, challenges and just the processes we go through to achieve our goals as youths with big dreams in Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole.
"I'm trying to reach out to everyone in the same situation as me, those who want to reach certain heights in regards to success. I want them to know that success doesn't come overnight, you need to toughen up and chin up to conquer," said Taf The Taylor.
During the show at 8:30AM, the designer also showed off his fashion line and managed to impress host Williams who said: "I like the fact that your garments are ready to wear and it's actually my kind of style. I love the use of unconventional prints and the silhouettes."
Turning to Gilmore Tee, Williams asked why menswear was important within the African setup to which he responded: "For years we've had most of the fashion worlds being over populated by women wear and I feel it's high time we, as African men, have our own platform that allows us to set trends and also encourage fellow men to break out of barriers and dress more."
