Gift Banda to respond to sacking

Sacked Bulawayo deputy mayor, Gift Banda is due to address the media today on his recent expulsion from council.
Banda was fired for gross misconduct and mismanagement independent tribunal following his suspension in September last year.
He was served with the verdict from the tribunal last Friday.
Banda was suspended late September by Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
That was after Banda was in May last year granted permission by council to buy 3,5 hectares of land valued at $130,000 for construction of residential flats at Ascot Race Course.
However, there was an outcry as to how he got the land.
MDC-T said it had set up a probe squad onto the corruption allegations.
The media briefing is scheduled for 4 pm at MDC-T provincial offices.
