Chickens seem to be coming home to roost for National People's Party as members are leaving the party in droves. Hiram Moyo becomes the latest high profile National executive member to leave the party.

Mr. Moyo was one of the Bulawayo NPP party pioneers and has been serving as the administrator for the party at provincial level until he was voted into the National Executive Council recently. He was also touted as one of the front contenders for Cowdray Park Luveve Member of parliament seat on the party ticket.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Moyo cited lack of democracy, nepotism, dictatorship as reasons for resigning. This follows hard on heels of the recent resignations by National executives namely Dr. Geneva Sibanda and Brighton Makocho who also cited similar sentiments.

"To All NPP followers whom I rubbed shoulders (with) for the past 2 years and half years I would like to pronounce my resignation due to the following reasons: Undemocratic practices in the institution. Nepotism accompanied with tribalism and unclear vision for as the party. Dictatorship and impositions"

"After realising that the institution (NPP) disregarded democratic elections internally, how would it be nationally (sic)?" stated Moyo in his letter that he posted on the party's WhatsApp group.

Asked on why he resigned on WhatsApp, Mr. Moyo said he did not know who to approach as "the party had no leadership".

"Last I checked our elections were said to be nullified, from there on some people were imposed, as it stands I cannot resigned recognize an imposed person as my leader. As far as I am concerned the party has no leadership for now", said Moyo.

As a sign that he may be joining another party, Moyo declared in his resignation letter the he was not "putting down tools for fighting for the liberation of Zimbabweans. I will partake in other democratic processes".

NPP has been suffering from low morale amongst the members as well as a dwindling membership following nullification of elections and imposition of office holders at various levels.

The NPP spokesperson has been on record downplaying the resignations as ZanuPF stage managed acts while labelling the leaving members as State agent infiltrators who had found the party impenetrable. By
