TWO years after he attempted to kill a 15-year-old classmate by striking him with a brick on the head before pouring boiling water on him after suspecting him of stealing his socks, a 17-year old Hlangabeza High School boy was yesterday hauled before a Bulawayo court facing one count of attempted murder and another assault.
The teenager who attempted the offence in 2012, when he was only 15 pleaded guilty to assaulting the boy using a brick at around 6AM on April 2, 2012 but denied pouring boiling water on him.
The magistrate remanded him out of custody to October 20 after the state requested that the victim sees a neurologist to determine the extent of his head injuries as it is believed his skull cracked.
The court said the victim has been suffering from epileptic seizures since the alleged assault.
A misunderstanding arose between them resulting in the juvenile hitting him on the head once with a brick.
The complainant was rushed to Nkayi Hospital and treated for the head injuries he sustained.
On June 19, 2012 at around 2.30AM while the boys were sleeping, the boy also poured boiling water on his victim who was asleep.
He sustained superficial burns and was treated at Nkayi Hospital.
