The Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Kudzai Chipanga has expressed concern at the under development of the Matabeleland North provincial capital, Lupane, a situation that is forcing all government departments to operate from Mhlahlandlela government complex in Bulawayo.

Chipanga said this during the fourth Presidential Youth Interface rally at Somhlolo stadium in Lupane this afternoon.

Lupane is the only provincial capital that still has no accommodation for civil servants, no provincial hospital, banks, tarred roads or even up-market lodges where business conferences can be held.

Elitsheni government complex, from which civil servants will operate is complete but due to lack of  basic facilities, civil servants including the Minister of State for the province, Cain Mathema, are operating from Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, some 171 kilometres away.

Chipanga said the current arrangement is costly to the government and will continue to derail the development of the province, unless urgent action is taken so construct houses for civil servants.

"Each time something is happening in the province, the civil servants will find themselves looking for fuel to drive all the way to their provincial capital. That money can be channelled to other projects which can improve the province," said Chipanga.

Zanu-PF Matabeleland North Provincial Youth Chairman, Mbongeni Dube said youths in the province are ready to participate in economic development programmes as they too will also be empowered.

"We would like to thank the President for coming. As you can see your Excellency, the large turnout is testimony of the commitment of the people who worked hard to ensure the success of this interface rally. It is also a sign that we are ready to participate in any initiatiaves that bring about development to our areas," he said.

The Zanu-PF youth leadership also warned the youths abusing social media, saying the party will soon take stern measures and instill discipline on party members failing to abide by the laid down regulations.

Chipanga disassociated the youths from the terror group that is abusing the name of President Mugabe and the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe, portraying them as leaders of a violent party.

"Your Excellency there is a group code-named COZWA, which moves in a car with the picture of the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe emblazoned on it. The group is violent and is causing terror in your name and that of the First Lady. We don't want this to continue. As for ZICOSU, you are our affiliate and not supervisors of the Youth League. When you have grievances, approach the responsible ministry and no to provoking others in the name of the Youth league," said Chipanga.

He said the Zanu-PF youths do not take lightly, the issue of such kind of indiscipline and warned everyone involved in such activities that the party will take stern measures against them.
