Mugabe bemoans Matabeleland South under-development

President Robert Mugabe has bemoaned the under-development of some parts of the country as compared to others, hence the need to ensure developmental programmes are accelerated in these areas for the benefit of the people.
Mugabe made the remarks during the official commissioning of the Jahunda Communication and Information Centre in Gwanda this Saturday.
Mugabe, who officially commissioned the information centre, expressed concern that due to Matabeleland South Province's proximity to South Africa there is rampant border jumping of youths.
"Let us stay here and work on our land," he said, adding that the government is committed to bringing about development in all parts of the country.
He said the establishment of communication information centres is part of efforts to ensure that all communities are part of the digital era.
"The establishment of the information centres buttresses my presidential computerisation programme which has seen many schools benefiting computers," said Mugabe.
The Minister of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Courier Services, Supa Mandiwandzira, spoke about other ICT development programmes in the province which include the recent installation of the TelOne fibre optic cable from Beitbridge to Bulawayo.
The President donated 120 computers to 12 primary and secondary schools in the province.
The Jahunda Information Centre, which has been described as the best in the country, is part of a project funded by PORTRAZ whose aim is to construct information centres around the country To date, 80 centres have been established.
The occasion was graced by the Vice Presidents Emmerson Mngagagwa and Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko,senior government and party officials, captains of industry and commerce and representatives of various schools, among others.
