Zimbabweans should go out in millions to vote MDC in 2018

An MDC-T supporter Innocent Shumba has challenged the Zimbabweans to come out in numbers to vote for his party in the 2018 elections.
"In this article, I will say little about Zanu PF evil deeds, I want to restrict myself to discussion mostly featuring on Social Media, particularly WhatsApp. My focus will be on arguments that arise in 56 Groups where I am a member and where I interact with different people from various political parties, including Zanu-PF. People now seem to realise that for quite sometime, Zimbabwe has become a topic of discussion due to her failing democracy and is still considered one of the most dangerous places in the world," he said.
"However, I am shocked by how some people do not recognise that their brand, Zanu-PF, is soiled to an extent that no miracle will save it from losing an election in a free and fair environment."
He said bribery and graft became endemic and systematic making the Zanu PF regime a very good candidate for a coup d'etat. Therefore, the recent developments that saw Mugabe and his wife reduced to nonentities is not surprising.
"People expected it to happen but were not certain how soon. Those who were at the receiving end from the Mugabes sing a common adage: we can find peace by letting go the past. Really? They can forgive each other because they form a core of looters of national treasury. They formed a Junta that saw partisan Defence Forces Generals determined to cling to power for life by unconstitutional means. For instance, former Army General Constantine Chiwenga, refused to recognise the winner of 2008 elections. They blocked the charismatic MDCT leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, to resume power and form a government after defeating Mugabe. Two thousand and eight (2008) outcome prolonged the suffering of the people of Zimbabwe as investors backed off and companies closed," he said.
"Thus, the 2008 Zanu PF election defeat, is a natural starting point to answer the question, "Will the Generals ever allow a free and fair election environment in the country?" The answer is NO. Never!!! In 2008, Zanu-PF plunged Zimbabwe into political turmoil and murdered opposition supporters after it lost its governing power. We still mutter to ourselves in all innocence, 'how could anyone do that?'Known killers such as Muneri Chakwana aka Black Jesus, still roam Zimbabwe streets freely despite crushing skulls and killing thousands of MDC supporters including the famous Lux Kanyurira, in Kariba."
He said the killers are still around and impacted on 2013 election outcome and could still impact on 2018 election if no electroral reforms are put in place.
" MDC-T was denied police clearance to hold rallies and were blocked from entering certain areas which were classified as No Go Areas (NGA) by Zanu PF and its violent machinery. In Urban areas where the party enjoys majority, its rallies were disrupted either by a partisan police force (ZRP) or youth militias," he said.
"In 2013 election, The electorate was caught between fear and desperation even though NIKUV entered the fray. The election itself was a fuss. It was simply an extension of the suffrage of Zimbabweans. The electorate feared the return of 2008 state sponsored terror attacks. this is evidenced by Zanu-PF government rejection of implementing electoral reforms demanded by Zimbabweans. Thus, Zanu PF has never been comfortable with the idea of electoral reforms. The aftermath of 2008 violence and terror attacks delivered the desired results in 2013 elections. Thus Zanu PF basks on the impact of 2008 violence."
He said it is worth recalling here that Zimbabweans prayed for General Chiwenga to remove ZNA uniform and enter civilian life as a politician where political respect is earned through votes. Which he has done now. Welcome to the world of defeats Cde.
"Meanwhile, every Zimbabwean should be afforded the right to vote, because it is the only first criterion of democracy. Zimbabwe, has been refusing the right to vote to people born in the country but with one parent of another country.Disenfranchising Zimbabweans in this manner should be unacceptable and is rigging. For instance, I was refused to vote in 2005 elections in Harare because my Father migrated from Malawi despite being born and bred in Zimbabwe. Surprising my sisters and brothers in my rural home were allowed to vote. The Zanu-PF regime should implement electoral reforms if they need to attain legitimacy and finally attainment of political stability in the country," he said.
"I urge Zimbabweans to go out in millions and vote for MDC if they want an accountable government. I am aware that the electorate has lost the enthusiasm for participating in the elections but give MDC a chance in 2018. The party has done tremendously well under intense violence and intimidation."
