Zanu-PF is set to undertake a major restructuring of its diaspora districts this year, with internal elections planned as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its membership base among Zimbabweans living abroad.
The impending reorganisation has generated significant interest among the diaspora, with many members eager to assume leadership roles within the party's international branches.
In a virtual address to Zanu-PF members in China, National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha confirmed the plans, stressing the need for robust and effective structures overseas. "As we prepare for the pending restructuring of the diaspora districts' executives in 2026, leadership across all regions must be strengthened to ensure efficiency, responsiveness, and alignment with the party's national objectives," Machacha said.
He revealed that the party's Commissariat Department would soon issue a formal circular detailing the electoral procedures. "In this regard, the Commissariat Department will soon issue a circular outlining the process that will lead to the restructuring of the district executives in the diaspora," he added.
Machacha also called on diaspora districts to work closely with Zimbabwean embassies to foster strong relationships that enhance communication, coordination, and support for citizens abroad. He urged members to remain steadfast ambassadors of the party and champions of the national development agenda.
The restructuring initiative reflects Zanu-PF's broader strategy to strengthen its global networks and ensure that diaspora branches operate efficiently while supporting the party's objectives at home.
