The Law Society of Zimbabwe has embarked on a comprehensive rebranding exercise aimed at modernising its identity, strengthening institutional culture and aligning the legal profession with evolving technological and societal demands.

Speaking at the launch, LSZ president Lison Ncube said the transformation represents a major turning point for the organisation, which was established in 1981 following the dissolution of the colonial-era Bar Association.

"Rising from the ashes of the old Bar Association… the Law Society of Zimbabwe has come a long way as a brand," Ncube said, describing the initiative as both symbolic and structural renewal.

He said the organisation's visual identity had gradually lost distinctiveness over time, prompting a complete overhaul that goes beyond branding to include institutional culture and service delivery.

"We lost our colours and with it, part of our identity was eroded," he said, adding that the rebrand includes a new simplified logo derived from the traditional crest.

Ncube emphasised that the changes are designed to reposition LSZ as a more responsive regulator and thought leader in the justice sector, while maintaining core values such as integrity, independence and professionalism.

"We are on the precipice of a new dawn… a new culture, a new way of doing things," he said.

He noted that the legal profession must evolve with technology and shifting expectations, saying practices from 1980 cannot remain relevant in 2026.

"The legal profession has evolved… hence the need for us to also move with time," he said.

The rebranding also signals improvements in service delivery, with the LSZ pledging a more efficient and responsive institution for both lawyers and the public.

"They can expect a more efficient service… a more listening society," Ncube said.

He added that the organisation will roll out continuous professional development programmes, training initiatives and annual events aimed at strengthening engagement within the legal fraternity and the wider community.

Despite the overhaul, Ncube reaffirmed that the LSZ's core mission remains unchanged.

"Our vision remains unchanged: to be a world-class, independent law society committed to justice and the rule of law," he said.
