Chahwanda Stadium is back in action after recent disturbances forced the abandonment of Hardrock's last home fixture against Dynamos on May 24, with the refurbished Kwekwe venue set to host a high-stakes Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) matchday 16 encounter against Simba Bhora this Sunday, 7 June 2026.
The stadium, home of the "Kasongo Boys", has undergone repairs, repainting and security upgrades as the club moves to restore confidence among supporters and match officials following the chaotic incident.
Hardrock chairman Wellington Mpandare said the venue is now ready to host top-flight football again, with lessons learned from the previous disruption.
"It's work in progress, there are things we are improving security-wise. It was a wake-up call in every aspect. We are ready to host Simba Bhora and everything is in place. We don't expect any challenges like we experienced in our last home game," said Mpandare.
He added that Chahwanda Stadium will now operate with improved crowd control systems, including digital ticketing and multiple sales points to ease congestion on matchday.
The fixture comes at a critical point in the PSL title race, with four teams currently tied on 28 points at the top of the table, separated only by goal difference.
Hardrock lead the standings due to a superior goal difference of +14, but pressure remains intense from Scotland, Herentals and Makepekepe, all breathing down their necks. A slip could see them drop out of the top four.
Ngezi Platinum Stars sit fifth on 26 points, while Dynamos—who have a game in hand following their abandoned match at Chahwanda—occupy sixth place on 24 points.
Simba Bhora, meanwhile, arrive in Kwekwe in search of a turnaround after a poor run of form that has seen them go four matches without a win. They sit ninth on 21 points from 15 games after a 1–1 draw against Triangle and a goalless draw away to MWOS.
Despite their struggles, Simba Bhora will look to draw on experience and energy as they aim to reignite their title hopes, now seven points behind the leaders.
Hardrock will be boosted by the return of midfielder Washington Navaya, who missed recent league matches while on international duty with the Warriors at the Unity Cup in the United Kingdom, where he featured in the bronze medal match against India.
With both sides desperate for points—Hardrock to cement their position at the summit and Simba Bhora to stay in contention—the clash promises to be a tense and decisive encounter.
Once a scene of chaos, Chahwanda Stadium now stands as a symbol of recovery, with all eyes on whether it can deliver a trouble-free and thrilling football spectacle this weekend.
