Five more members of the Eastiville consortium have been arrested in connection with the illegal sale of state land at Caledonia and Solomio Hoffman farms bordering Ruwa and Mabvuku.
The latest arrests follow Monday's arrest of Nelson Mandizvidza who is chairman of the proposed consortium alleged to have swindled money from housing cooperatives at Caledonia and Solomio Hoffman farms.
ZRP spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests to the ZBC News, adding that the arrested parties are assisting the police who are conducting investigations of fraud and illegal sale of state land.
"We can confirm that there are more arrests and they are at the Central Police Station assisting us with investigations. The arrested are Batsirai Muchini, Joyce Chiroodza, Oswell Gwanzura, Albert Katiyo and Livingstone Chikanga," said Nyathi.
According to sources close to the case, the five made people pay amounts ranging from US$400 to US$600.
All the suspects are being held at Harare Central Police Station and are assisting the law and order section with investigations.
The two disputed areas have a collective 200 housing cooperatives while the consortium was formed by the chairpersons of just five cooperatives.
