Mudede's campaign against contraceptives bizarre, baseless

The Health and Child Care ministry has dismissed assertions that modern contraceptives are dangerous, saying there is no need for alarm and panic over the "bizarre" campaign based on unproven research findings.
Director for family health Bernard Madzima said besides being safe, contraceptives do not cause any birth defects or infertility.
The statement follows a spirited campaign by Registrar-General Tobaiwa Mudede urging women to avoid contraceptives and make use of natural methods, which include withdrawal and traditional herbs.
