DOGS were found feasting on an unidentified decomposing body thought to be of a man in a grazing area in Tsholotsho.

A villager discovered the remains at Gariya grazing lands and police were called.

Chief Superintendent Johannes Govo, the Officer Commanding Lupane District, said the body was in a decomposing state and appealed to people around Tsholotsho whose relatives may be missing to contact the police.

"Villagers failed to identify the body and it was conveyed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for postmortem. We're appealing to communities around Tsholotsho who have missing relatives to come forward and identify the body," said Chief Supt Govo.

He said the dead man was wearing a white T-shirt, green worksuit jacket and trousers as well as size eight grey trainers at the time of his death.

There were no particulars found on him.

Sources said Thembani Sebele, 18, of Gariya 2 line under Chief Tategulu, discovered the remains with dogs feasting on it under a mopani tree. He was looking for his cattle.

Villagers told The Chronicle that they suspected the unidentified body to be of a man between the ages of 30 and 40.

Nduna Nhliziyo, a villager, said: "No-one is missing from our village and we are clueless on what could have caused his death. It's even sadder to find dogs partying on a human body. Surely the deceased's ancestors are bitter to see their child being eaten by dogs and vultures.

"We do hope his family realise he is missing because in our culture, every human being deserves a decent burial."
